| THE COTSWOLDS COTTAGES |
| |
The Cotswold Hills run from near Bath north east as far as Northamptonshire, but the area known as 'The Cotswolds' covers a wider area bounded roughly by Bath, Stratford on Avon and Oxford. On the southern edge is the Thames Valley; to the west and north west the Vales of Severn and Evesham. This is a warm, appealing landscape of rolling hills, wooded valleys and pretty market towns including Burford, Charlbury, Cirencester, Evesham, Stow in the Wold and Moreton-in-the-Marsh. Its many picturesque villages include Broadway, Bibury, the Slaughters and more. What gives the area its common character is the honey-coloured stone (see it from Bath to Northamptonshire). And - being in the middle of southern England - it is a good touring base, being never far from anywhere - for day trips to London, to Wales, Shakespeare's country and beyond. |
