Elgin Crescent is a leafy and elegant street of large period houses, many still in use as single homes, a short walk north of Holland Park Avenue and Notting Hill Gate. The tube at Notting Hill Gate is 10 minutes walk and at Ladbroke Grove 5 minutes. Close to the famous antique shops and restaurants of Portobello Road (of the film 'Notting Hill' fame). Local shops within 3/4 minutes walk, while Notting Hill Gate and environs has many larger shops, supermarkets and more restaurants.
The house is converted into 5 apartments from lower ground floor with own large patio up to the penthouse on top with balcony. All apartments have access to the residents' communal garden at the rear. All were totally refitted and refurbished in 1999 so are fresh and bright. Each has 2 twin bedrooms and double sofa bed, bathroom with bath with shower over (one apartment has shower only) and well-equipped kitchen. The housekeeper and cleaners visit daily on weekdays. Careful, helpful owner.
Not luxury, but very pleasant apartments in good residential area with spacious (by London standards) sitting/dining rooms. Excellent value for the area. "We got a nice note saying how much they enjoyed Elgin Crescent" (travel agent, USA, 2000). |
