Southwark is one of London's most historic areas on the South Bank of the Thames. It was from here that Chaucer's pilgrims left the Tabard Inn for Canterbury. Nowadays it is the home of several theatres including The Glove and The National Theatre, many art galleries including the Tate Modern, several concert halls and of course the London Eye. Nearby Borough Market is possibly the most famous food market in Britain. Many local small shops such as bakeries, newsagents and grocers, as well as a large supermarket, a short walk away. Cafes and restaurants of all variety within a short walk. Lovely riverside walks. London Bridge or Southwark tube stations 5 minutes away.
The second floor walk-up apartment is on Southwark Bridge Road. It is a large 1,100 sq. foot modern conversion retaining many of the original features such as beamed ceilings. The sitting/dining room includes a dining table for 6, sofa and chairs, two desks and a good working/office space (the sofa can double as a single bed). One double bedroom. Two bathrooms, one with shower, the other bath with shower over. Kitchen with all machines (washer/drier, dishwasher, etc.). TV. Telephone. PC available. Designer furniture.
